Event photography for a local authority: the Digne-les-Bains pump track
A sports facility inauguration, however well it goes on the ground, leaves little trace if nobody documents it properly. On June 16, 2025, BMAX covered the inauguration of the pump track in Digne-les-Bains for the city council: a morning of MTB and BMX demonstrations, turned into a set of visuals usable for the local authority’s communication, social media and future facility showcases.

Why document a sports facility inauguration
A local authority invests in a facility, organizes an inauguration, communicates locally, then the event disappears from view for lack of quality images. Without a proper photo report, all that remains are a few smartphone shots taken by staff on site, rarely usable for a website or an official brochure.
For the Digne-les-Bains pump track, the challenge was twofold: show the facility itself (the track, its modules, the starting line) and show the life happening on it (riders in action, the atmosphere of the day). An empty sports facility convinces no one; it’s the riders in motion that make people want to visit.
What it changes for a local authority
A local authority communicates continuously: municipal newsletter, social media, website, annual activity reports. A stock of professional photos of a new facility serves for months, well beyond the inauguration date itself. According to a Sprout Social study (2025), posts featuring professional visuals get on average 2.3 times more engagement than those using amateur photos on public institutions’ social media.
Another, less immediately visible benefit: these visuals also document public investment over time. Three years after the inauguration, a local authority can still illustrate a term review or a sports label application with these same photos, provided they were properly taken and archived from the start.
| Without a professional report | With a professional report |
|---|---|
| Scattered smartphone photos, uneven quality | Consistent set, usable immediately |
| Little to no follow-up over time | Stock reusable over several years |
| One-off communication, quickly forgotten | Material for newsletters, website, activity reports |
Timing, cost, coverage area: your questions
How much time should be planned for an inauguration photo report?
A morning or half-day is usually enough for this type of event: official proceedings, demonstrations, general atmosphere. Sorted and delivered photos follow within a few days.
Does BMAX only work in Digne-les-Bains?
BMAX works throughout the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region and more broadly across Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, for local authorities, associations and businesses organizing one-off or recurring events.
Can this type of report be combined with video coverage?
Yes, photo and video complement each other well for this kind of event: photos serve ongoing communication, a short video captures the atmosphere for social media.
What to remember
A sports event organized by a local authority deserves the same treatment as a corporate launch: photo coverage designed to last, not just for the day itself.
