For the fourth year in a row, Gebr. Heinemann asked me to cover its gala evening in Cannes in photo and video, on the Palais Stéphanie Beach, with several hundred guests, four areas spread across the whole beach restaurant and a party that carried on well past midnight. The photos were delivered a few hours after the event, the video two days later, and the team immediately asked me to book my presence for next year.

Four years covering the same gala in Cannes
Every year, Gebr. Heinemann brings its employees and customers together in Cannes for a gala evening on the Croisette, at Palais Stéphanie Beach, and for four years now I have been the one telling the story in photo and video. After four editions, the venue, the rhythm of the evening and the team's expectations are familiar to me, which leaves more room for observation and spontaneous images.

The theme of this edition, "Cannes 2026, where we connect", appeared all over the beach: on the welcome flags, on the signs of each area and on the illuminated structures in the company's colours.

Four areas on one beach: Greet, Play, Chill and Celebrate
The beach restaurant had been divided into four areas, each with its own atmosphere and name, and guests moved from one to the next as the evening went on.
Connect & Greet: the welcome and the Davidoff cigars
This is where the company's employees and customers were welcomed, with drinks and a Davidoff cigar tasting. The first conversations start in this area, which gives natural images from the very beginning of the evening.

Connect & Play: beach boules and 8-player table football
Guests could play boules on the sand laid out on the deck, or take on each other at 8-player table football. These games create very photogenic team moments, with gestures, laughter and friendly challenges between colleagues and customers.

Connect & Chill: settling in on the beach
On the sand, plenty of corners let guests rest, talk and listen to the musicians playing live. The atmosphere changes completely there, with warmer light, glowing balloons and the illuminated Croisette as a backdrop.

Connect & Celebrate: the dance floor and the DJ
The evening then gathered under the glass roof, around a glowing dance floor and a DJ, and it carried on well past midnight. This is when the purple and pink lights take over and silhouettes stand out in the haze.

How to photograph a night gala with several hundred guests
An evening like this changes lighting from one area to the next, with cold blue on the deck, warm light on the sand, pink and purple on the dance floor. You have to move from one setting to another without losing the coherence of the whole, while staying at the guests' level.

I work in two registers. The first is the candid photo, taken before people have time to pose, to keep the real atmosphere of the evening. The second is the group photo, which the company also wants for its archives and internal communication, and which I run quickly so as not to interrupt conversations.
Part of the conversation happens in English, with guests of very different profiles, and putting people at ease is part of my role, whether for a spontaneous shot or for gathering a whole group in front of the lens.

Photos delivered within hours, a video within two days
The photos were sent a few hours after the end of the evening, and the official video two days later. For a company this timing matters, because teams can publish and share while the memory of the evening is still fresh.
The same eye covered both photo and video, which gives consistency between the two and a single person to coordinate on the organisers' side.

Why a client comes back four years in a row
After the evening, the Gebr. Heinemann team asked me to book my presence for another report next year, which is the clearest sign of trust a photographer can receive. They were happy with the media delivered, and also with the way I work on site: the ease of communicating in English, the attention paid to people, the comfort of photographing candidly as well as organising a group photo.
Four successive editions build real mutual knowledge: the team knows what I deliver, I know what they expect, and the day itself runs without friction. If you are organising a similar event, you can discover my services on the event photographer page.
Frequently asked questions about photo and video coverage of a corporate evening
How long does it take to receive the photos of a corporate evening?
For the Gebr. Heinemann evening, the photos were delivered a few hours after the end of the event and the video two days later. The timing is agreed with each client according to their publishing needs.
Can one provider handle both photo and video?
Yes, that is the case for this gala. A single contact covers both, which simplifies coordination and gives the photos and the video the same visual sensibility.
Do you work in Cannes and on the French Riviera?
BMAX is based in Digne-les-Bains, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, and works across the whole Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Cannes included, and beyond depending on the project.
Is night photography a problem for image quality?
With fifteen years of professional photo and audiovisual work, stage lighting, illuminated sets and party atmospheres are part of my daily routine, including for galas that run late into the night.
See you in Cannes next year
